Dave Holt - Bio
My first fascination with music was inspired by my father. He loved listening to his early Mike Oldfield and Vangelis vinyls played loud on his HiFi when I was young... and when I was around 12 years old, I was into the War of the Worlds album, Switched on Bach by Wendy Carlos, and 'Rydeen' by the Yellow Magic Orchestra. Besides loving the Vangelis early electronic albums this was also 1977 and with the release of Star Wars, I bought the John Williams orchestral soundtrack LP and played it to death...so my interest in music was definitely on the instrumental side of things from an early age.
However the major influence came about when my Dad and I were listening to some tapes in his car. I grabbed a copied tape from the glove box and jammed it in the old stereo. Little did I realise that moment set me on a different life path. I was hearing for the first time Jean-Michel Jarre's, Equinoxe and Magnetic Fields albums. This music resonated massively with me. I had never heard anything like it. I went out the next day to Melody House Records and bought everything Jarre had released. That was the real beginning of my love of electronic/synthesized instrumental music. |
Since being 14 years old I was bitten by the bug and initially built a small bedroom set up learning the craft, been in a couple of performing bands over the years and have built my collection of recording gear into a well equipped digital music studio.
After receiving a Diploma in Electronic Music Production at the School of Sound Recording (SSR) in Manchester, I worked for a short time as a sound engineer at a local recording studio, ultimately, creating my own music production company called ZONE-1 MUSIC, composing and producing soundtracks, radio jingles, EPs and albums for local artists. So...that's a brief history of my journey, In the meantime, feel free to check out my website and I hope you enjoy the music. Thankyou for listening. Dave. |
